The C700S microphone has three capsules one 16mm pressure element, mounted between two 26mm gradient elements which are at right angles to each other. The gradient capsules face 45 degrees toward left and right, while the pressure capsule faces forward. Any coincident stereo pickup can be derived from mixing these three signals together, and like the C700A, the signals can be recorded individually and all aspects of image width and pattern control may be adjusted in the mixdown.
